Ashtanga Yoga Mantra

A profound part of the tradition connected to Ashtanga practice are the opening and closing mantra.

Because of the ancient roots of Yoga, mantras are written and known in the ancient language of India, Sanskrit. As Sanskrit is the language of the heart its meaning is very metaphoric. It is not necessary to understand it, to benefit from the powers of Sanskrit mantras.

Chanting acts to shift the consciousness of the individual practicing the chant to a higher level of vibration. This in turn brings us closer to our Source orHigher Self – the aspect of ourselves that remains eternal – and leaves the practitioner filled with peace and feeling calm and centered.
